Gary Freeman, PhD
Director of Technology & QualityGary joined SASCO in 2006, and currently serves as the Director of Technology & Quality. He heads up the technical teams that are responsible for the research, development, commercial scale-up and quality control related activities associated with SASCO’s various product lines. Gary is a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology with a PhD in Organometallic Chemistry and has 30 years of new product development experience. He has worked in various technical capacities from Senior Scientist roles to Senior Technical Management positions with a number of Fortune 500 companies. His technical expertise spans the areas of surfactant science, colloidal chemistry, inorganic pigment development, mineral processing technology, surface modification technology for particulates and coating formulation science as applied across a number of end-use market areas including detergents and industrial cleaners, wet-end paper chemistry and paper coating technology, architectural paints and industrial coatings as well as reinforcements and performance additives for rubber and plastic composites. His technical expertise in the area of surface modification for inorganic particulates being used in coating, paper, rubber and plastics applications is particularly well recognized. He is the inventor of over 40 US patents, many of which cover commercially successful products and process technologies. |

Walt Lackey
Rubber Applications ManagerWalt is a 1978 graduate of East Carolina University in Greenville, N.C., and obtained a Masters from Mercer University in Macon, Georgia in 1999. He entered the Rubber Industry in 1980 with Goshen Rubber in Snow Hill, N.C., and has been in the Rubber and Plastics industry for more than thirty years. Walt is an active member of the ACS, the Rubber Division of the ACS and Regional Rubber Groups. He has been published several times and given numerous technical presentations. |

Research Chemist Kelli is a recent graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, GA. Originally from San Diego, Kelli joined the SASCO research team immediately after graduation where she has started her Research Chemist career. |
